What's new in FuelOracle for Web

v1.6.1 Fuel stop and waypoint cards

Rebuilt fuel stop and waypoint cards, and FuelOracle asks before it changes your trip.

New

  • Fuel stop and waypoint cards are rebuilt. Each shows what matters for that stop, and a waypoint that is also a fuel stop is one card.
  • Required fuel stops say what you are filling: the car, the jerry cans or both.
  • Change or skip a stop from one sheet: compare nearby stations by cost, skip it, or also stop there on the way back.
  • Trips over 100 stops can be split into two linked trips.
  • Check-ins record your fuel and odometer, and ask before they change your plan.

Improvements

  • FuelOracle asks before acting. It checks your fuel level before replanning and never adds stops, fills or changes to your trip by itself.
  • When something can't be done, the message offers the fix right there.
  • Deleting a vehicle or caravan keeps it on your finished trips.

Fixes

  • Saving a trip no longer resets Smart fill or road alerts.
  • A fill logged while a plan was refreshing is no longer lost.

v1.6.0 When a trip can't be planned

New

  • When a trip can't be planned, a sheet shows what's stopping it and the fixes that work: allow a skipped station, confirm fuel at an unlisted stop (call them from the sheet), fill or add jerry cans, or update your fuel level. Replanning from it doesn't count toward your daily plans.
  • Borrowed fuel: add fuel from someone else's jerry can to a trip, for that trip only.
  • Fix it from the sheet: set up jerry cans or add a stop on the stretch, with the stations along it, without leaving the sheet.

Fixes

  • Plans no longer count on more jerry can fuel than your cans hold.
  • 4WD routing is no longer suggested on a sealed route that goes around water, such as Spencer Gulf.
  • Changing your jerry can size or starting level now changes the plan.

v1.6.0 You are here

New

  • Trip list: everything behind you folds into one "Passed" row and a "You are here" line stays pinned as you scroll, so a long trip opens at your position. App and web.
  • Home: an Active trip tile shows your trip's progress and next stop while a trip is under way. Web and app.

Improvements

  • Home layout is now set per device: each phone and browser keeps its own order.

Fixes

  • Stations the feed lists under two ids for the same site (such as freeway BPs with separate truck diesel lanes) no longer lose a fuel type.

v1.5.2 Log fuel

New

  • Log fuel: one place to record a fill-up at any station, planned or not, or a pour from your jerry cans. It replaces Add Fuel Stop.
  • Search the stations along your route by name, brand or town. A planned stop is flagged, so you can fill it up rather than log it twice.
  • Say where on the trip and when it happened, so a fill you log later, or one you forgot, lands in the right place and your plan restarts from it.
  • Not filled to full? Set the tank level after the fill. A jerry can pour asks for the tank level after pouring.
  • Edit, undo or remove a fill-up or pour you logged. Stops you added show "Added by you".
  • An odometer reading that does not fit the trip is queried before it is saved.
  • The trip page on the web now works the way the app does: the same action row, figures, progress and cards, with Log fuel built in.
  • Jerry cans: "Fill jerry cans here" on a planned stop makes it a required stop and the plan fills your cans there. A logged pour can now be edited for litres, destination, time and leg.
  • Fuel discounts on the phone: link Everyday Rewards and My NRMA for the combined rate, with Unlink. A discount that varies by grade reads "up to 5c/L", with the figure per grade on the station card.
  • A traveller's "no fuel" report on an unlisted place shows every grade there as No fuel, with the last price seen, until fuel is reported again.
  • The trip page on the web opens on the Trip list, as the app does. Fuel stops is a switch away and the choice is remembered.

Improvements

  • Preparation work for major features coming in v1.6.0.

Fixes

  • A fill logged at a station before your next stop no longer lands after it, and a refreshed plan no longer restarts from the wrong place.
  • The Fuel tab shows a station that has run out, marked "no fuel", instead of hiding it.
  • Roadhouses known only from a community price feed are no longer relied on for fuel. They show as places that may have fuel, with recent reports and prices.
  • A fuel a station usually sells that drops out of the feed now shows as no fuel, with the last price seen, instead of disappearing.
  • Plans fill empty jerry cans at a required fuel stop before a planned pour, and say so.

v1.5.1 FuelOracle in Claude

New

  • Connect FuelOracle to Claude and plan trips, check fuel prices and manage your garage just by asking.
  • You choose what it can do: view only, make changes, or delete.
  • Other AI assistants can connect too, including one you host yourself. They show as unverified apps.
  • Turn it on in Settings > AI assistant. Included with Trip Pass and Full Lapper.
  • Correct a jerry can's level: set a can to what it actually holds and your plan follows.
  • New help articles: connecting Claude, and getting the best out of FuelOracle on a trip.
  • Planned trips pick up new fuel prices on their own. The Refresh prices button is gone; there is nothing to tap.
  • Your stops and fill amounts stay as planned. When prices move, the trip says so and offers Refresh plan.
  • Security policy published at fueloracle.com.au/security, with a contact for reporting problems.

Fixes

  • My NRMA fuel discount now works: it applies at Ampol Foodary, 5c a litre on premium grades and 4c on the rest. It had matched no station at all.
  • Everyday Rewards no longer claims a discount at plain Ampol and Caltex, where it does not apply. Ampol Foodary, EG Ampol and U-Go still get it.
  • Ampol Foodary and U-Go are now their own brands, so brand filters and brand priority treat them properly.
  • U-Go stations now get their Everyday Rewards discount. They had been filed under a different chain entirely.
  • Flybuys no longer shows at OTR stations, where it does not reliably apply. It still shows at Shell and Reddy Express.
  • Link My NRMA with Everyday Rewards for a combined 8c/L at Ampol Foodary, 9c on premium grades. Scan both cards at the pump to get it.
  • RACT's 6c now shows at the Ampol-branded Bennetts sites in Tasmania. They had been treated as plain Ampol, which hid it.
  • Towing trips now always plan with your caravan attached.
  • Setting jerry cans to empty now sticks when you refresh a plan.
  • Fill prices you enter are saved correctly.
  • Your dashboard now adds up what you actually spent on fuel.
  • Trips you have shared now show as shared in your trip list.
  • Editing a caravan no longer clears its modifications.
  • Trips with a custom road surface now save.
  • Shared trips hide the streets around your start and finish.
  • Changing your password signs out your other devices.
  • Security and reliability improvements.

v1.5.0 A refreshed Garage

New

  • One Garage: your vehicles and caravans on the same page, each with its odometer and service status.
  • Service tracking for both: set an interval in kilometres or months, and FuelOracle tells you when a service is coming up or overdue.
  • Caravan odometers count the kilometres you tow, added as each trip is completed.

v1.5.0 Push notifications

New

  • Push notifications on iPhone and Android: refresh your plan the morning you travel, plus reminders a week and a day before a trip.
  • Notification settings: turn each kind on or off, and set your own quiet hours.

v1.5.0 A whole new look for FuelOracle

The app has been rebuilt from the ground up: cleaner screens, a redesigned trip planner, new icons and clearer maps. Same fuel planning underneath, much nicer to use. I hope you like it!

New

  • A whole new look, on the web and in the iOS app - every screen redesigned around the same clean layout, with new icons and clearer maps.
  • Don't stop here - skip any planned station for the whole trip. The rule survives every plan refresh, and if a leg cannot be done without that station the plan puts it back and tells you why.
  • Keep going on jerry cans - when you skip a station you can cover that leg from your cans. The plan is built on tank plus the pour, and the next station refills your cans.
  • Plan a pour at any stop - set litres to pour from your jerry cans at a camp or waypoint in the stop editor. The planner never adds a pour itself; it only suggests one when it would save money, and you can turn those tips off.
  • Every stop now says where its fill takes the tank - to full, or to a percentage with the cheaper stop it is reaching for.
  • Trip settings on the trip page - reserve, start fuel, fill mode, priority, jerry cans and skipped stations, without opening Edit.

Fixes

  • "Always full" now means it - every planned stop fills to the brim. Smart fill is unchanged.
  • Changing a station from the alternatives list is now kept as a pinned stop, so a later refresh does not undo your choice.
  • The alternatives list no longer shows the planned station as an alternative to itself, and shows a range for the first stop.

v1.5.0 Pick your car and caravan

New

  • Find your car by make and model. Pick from 638 models sold in Australia and FuelOracle fills in the typical tank size, fuel economy and towing profile from the Green Vehicle Guide.
  • See your car in your colour. Each model has its own picture, split by generation where the shape changed, and you choose the paint colour.
  • Caravans get the same treatment: pick Full Van, Pop Top, Hybrid, Semi Aero, Off Road, Camper Trailer, Teardrop, Fifth Wheel, A-Frame or Box Van, choose a colour, and typical weights and dimensions are filled in.
  • Not listed? Choose the closest shape and start from typical figures for it.

v1.4.9 Fuel Discount Programs Added for Planner and Fuel Lookup

New

  • Fuel Discount Programs - tell FuelOracle which discounts you hold (Flybuys, Everyday Rewards, NRMA, RACQ, RAA, RACT, AmpolCard) under Settings, and matching stations are highlighted in Fuel Lookup with your price after the discount shown alongside the board price.
  • Trip planning uses your discounted price when choosing fuel stops, and planned stops show the discount that was applied.
  • Cheapest in view and the Price / Best Value lists rank stations by your discounted price automatically.

Improvements

  • Bug fixes and performance improvements.

Fixes

  • Random app logouts. One device presenting an old session token used to log every device out of the account, and each of those then did the same on its next refresh. Only that one session is affected now.
  • Fuel Lookup and trip planning could show a years-old price as if it were current. Prices that have not been updated in over 30 days are now shown as "Last known" with their age, and are no longer used to choose fuel stops.
  • Some stations appeared twice on the map. Duplicates within 50 m are now collapsed, so station counts in busy areas may drop slightly.
  • Fuel discounts were not applied at some stations because the brand code from the state feed was not recognised. Discount matching now understands the short brand codes used by the feeds.
  • The price colour scale in the Fuel Lookup list could mark every station as expensive when a station with no current price was in view.

v1.4.8 More Fuels, Smarter Fallbacks

New

  • Opal / Low Aromatic Fuel and E85 are now real fuel types across the app - on the Fuel Lookup map, in trip planning, and when reporting prices. Over 100 remote NT outlets plus QLD and SA sites now show these prices.
  • Backup fuel types on your vehicle - pick a primary fuel and the alternatives your vehicle can also use. Trip plans fall back to your backups, in your order, when no station on the route sells your first choice.
  • Premium Diesel, Opal and E85 can now be selected as a vehicle's fuel type.

Improvements

  • E85 is shown as its own fuel instead of appearing under E10 - E85 suits flex-fuel vehicles only, and choosing it as a backup is always your explicit call.
  • Existing vehicles automatically received safe backup fuels matching the planner's previous behaviour, so no trip loses fallback protection.

Fixes

  • Remote NT stations that sell Low Aromatic Fuel but no regular unleaded no longer show the wrong product, and stations selling both no longer list a duplicate price.

v1.4.7 Planning That Matches Real Trips

New

  • Share your trip report - send anyone a read-only link to the full report, and shared trips now show the complete picture: waypoints, stops, map and a View trip report button.
  • Charts you can touch - tap and drag on any report chart (iOS and web) to read exact values; the fuel level chart now traces your actual readings against the plan.
  • Every plan now records why - per-leg wind, altitude and surface factors are kept with the plan and shown in the report as predicted vs actual for each leg.
  • Trip dashboard at a glance - live trips show a progress strip right on the trip view, completed trips lead with their report card, and your latest trip report is one tap from the home screen.
  • Jerry can savings tips - FuelOracle now tracks what the fuel in your jerry cans cost and suggests pouring instead of buying when the next stop is dearer. Your call, always.
  • One-tap fill-up logging - the "I filled up" sheet now opens as a pre-filled summary (price, litres, odometer). Save in one tap when it matches the pump, or adjust anything.
  • Jump to next stop - a floating button in the trip view takes you straight to your next fuel stop or waypoint, no more scrolling.
  • Record where jerry fuel went - pours now note whether the fuel went into the car or elsewhere (like a caravan heater), so trip reports stay accurate.
  • Richer trip reports - fill times, where you actually filled when it was not the planned station, off-route detour notes, and a full waypoints and check-ins timeline with fuel readings and odometer.
  • Print-ready PDF exports - every chart now renders in the PDF in a print-friendly format, and fuel stops and waypoints include date, time and full street addresses.

Improvements

  • New trips now default to "Always fill to full" - plans project what trips really cost. Smart fill is still there if you want to chase cheaper prices with partial fills.
  • The planner prefers filling in the evening before an overnight stop over the next morning, matching how rigs actually travel.
  • Planner prices now match Fuel Lookup exactly - one price everywhere, using the freshest reliable data.
  • Odometer suggestions now follow your actual readings instead of running ahead of the trip.
  • Trip report days are now grouped in your local time zone.
  • Update your vehicle's odometer directly from the garage on iOS.
  • Locked trips now show a focused menu - unlock, dashboard, share and export - and completed trips no longer raise road alerts.
  • Truer tailwind fuel estimates - validated against real trip data, tailwinds now credit only the fuel benefit rigs actually realise, so tailwind legs are provisioned safely.

Fixes

  • The "Cheapest in view" card on the mobile fuel map no longer hides behind the bottom navigation.
  • The large rig community tag now reads "Tight for rigs" so it's clear it reports difficult access, not good access.

v1.4.6 Trip Dashboard

New

  • New Trip Dashboard - open it from the trip menu to see your whole trip on one page: route map, fuel stops, waypoint check-ins and jerry can activity.
  • Live trip progress - while a trip is underway the dashboard shows how far you've come, spend so far versus plan, and your next fuel stop with distance to go.
  • Completed trip report - once a trip is finished the dashboard becomes a full report: total distance, fuel purchased, actual costs versus the plan, estimated economy, price paid at every stop and spend by day.
  • Charts for fuel level along the route, cumulative cost against plan, price paid versus planned, elevation profile and daily spend.
  • Export the completed report as a PDF to keep or share.

v1.4.5 AdBlue and Large Rig Access Community Reporting

New

  • AdBlue availability is now a community field - mark and see which stations sell AdBlue, both in Fuel Lookup and when you log a fill-up.
  • New "large rig access" community field - flag stations that are tight for large rigs or long caravans so other travellers know before they arrive.
  • New trip preference "Avoid stations restricted for large rigs" - the planner now actively deprioritises both height-restricted and large-rig-restricted stations when you ask it to.

v1.4.2 Trip plans can now be calculated on your iPhone

New

  • On-device trip planning in the iOS app - routing comes from Apple Maps and the fuel-stop optimiser runs on your iPhone, so plans return faster and sync to your account like any other plan. Trips that need 4WD routing or include ferry crossings are automatically planned by the server, exactly as before.

Improvements

  • Plans calculated on a device are re-checked against the same fuel-safety rules on the server before they are saved - a plan that fails any safety check is rejected outright.

v1.4.1 Change fuel stops mid-trip, with your safety margin protected

New

  • Choose a different station for any fuel stop - tap "Show alternatives" on any planned fuel stop, from either the fuel stop list or the full trip view, and FuelOracle shows nearby stations you could use instead. Each option shows its price, how far off-route it is, and an estimate of how far you could drive after filling there. Pick one and your plan re-calculates around it.
  • Update your fuel level on the road - partway through a trip and your tank isn't where the plan assumed? Open "Update fuel level", set your current level, and FuelOracle re-plans the rest of your journey from where you actually are. It uses your location, or you can drop a pin on the map.

Improvements

  • Switching a stop now checks it's reachable - when you switch a fuel stop to a different station, whether from the alternatives list or by tapping a station on the map, FuelOracle now re-plans the route to make sure the new station still fits within your safety margin. If a station is too far to reach safely, it tells you plainly and suggests filling up first, picking a closer one, or adding a stop, rather than quietly leaving you short. Switching to a stored alternative or detour station stays instant.

v1.3.7 Community fuel prices, amenities, and station access flags

New

  • Report fuel prices - spotted a price not in the app? Tap any station, open the community panel, and submit the current price per litre. Your report appears in the fuel lookup map within seconds and is visible to all users. Prices you submit show a "Reported" badge so they're easy to distinguish from official data.
  • Amenity reports - let other travellers know what's at a station. Report whether it has food, drinking water, air, a dump point, or toilets. Reports from multiple users are combined into a consensus so the information gets more reliable over time.
  • Vehicle height flags - report if a station has a height restriction so taller vehicles and caravans can plan around it. Include the clearance in metres if you know it.
  • Vote on stations - confirm a station exists and is open, or dispute one that no longer operates. Vote counts show on each station's detail sheet.
  • Victorian stations show fresher community prices - the official Victorian fuel price feed has a built-in 24-hour delay. When a community price report is more recent than the official data, FuelOracle now uses the community price for that fuel type instead.

v1.3.6 Switch fuel stops from the map

New

  • Switch fuel stops from the map - zoom into any planned fuel stop on your trip map and nearby stations that aren't in your plan appear as amber markers. Tap one to see the current price, then switch it into your plan with one tap. Your fuel plan updates automatically. Useful when you spot a cheaper station, want a different brand, or find a stop that better suits your schedule.
  • Sign in with Google - you can now create an account or sign in using your Google account. Existing users can link their Google account under Settings > Connected Accounts to enable Google sign-in alongside their existing password or passkey.

v1.3.4 4x4 track routing

New

  • 4x4 track routing - trips can now be planned via unsealed and 4WD tracks. Enable "Route via unsealed / 4WD tracks" in the trip wizard or editor to route through outback station roads and tracks that aren't available through standard road routing.

v1.3.3 Road closure alerts and detour suggestions

New

  • Road closure alerts, warnings and detour suggestions for trips. Available on all paid plans. Includes push and webhook notification support.

v1.3.2 MFA sign-in and streamlined account setup

New

  • Added optional MFA - One-time Passcode (TOTP).
  • Streamlined user account setup.

v1.3.1 Authenticator app sign-in and data improvements

New

  • Authenticator app sign-in - add a TOTP authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.) as a second sign-in step. After entering your password you'll be prompted for the 6-digit code from your app. Set it up under Settings > Security. A single-use backup code is provided at setup in case you lose access to your authenticator - store it somewhere safe.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where new accounts created via the registration flow were not tracked in analytics correctly.
  • Improved fuel price coverage for remote and regional stations that previously showed stale or missing prices.

v1.3.0 Trip celebrations, state milestones, and a sharper everyday experience

New

  • Trip completion celebration - check off your last fuel stop and FuelOracle celebrates with you. A brief overlay shows your total fuel spend and litres used for the trip, then steps aside. A small touch for a big moment.
  • State milestones - FuelOracle now notices when a trip takes you to a state you haven't visited before and marks the moment with a toast. Your personal travel history builds up in the background as you explore.
  • Nearby prices from any station - tap a fuel station anywhere in the app and you'll now see a Nearby prices link that jumps straight to the Fuel Lookup map, pre-centred on that station with your fuel type already selected. Useful when you want to compare what else is in the area before committing.

Improvements

  • Garage - the bottom navigation menu previously labelled More is now labelled Garage. It better reflects what's actually in there - your vehicles, caravans, and trip history.
  • Personalised dashboard - the dashboard now greets you by name.
  • Cleaner dashboard stats - the stats row now shows a maximum of four cards. Estimated and actual fuel cost no longer compete for the same space - the most relevant figure shows automatically based on your trip history.
  • Friendly empty state - no trips planned yet? The dashboard now shows a proper prompt with a direct link to start planning, rather than a blank space.
  • Plain-language weather warnings - wind and wave warnings on trip view now lead with a plain descriptor (Dangerous, Very strong, Strong) followed by the actual km/h figure. Easier to read at a glance on mobile.
  • Refresh plan - the button previously labelled Re-generate plan is now Refresh plan across all trip screens. Same action, clearer name.
  • Vehicle link on trip view - your vehicle name on the trip summary is now a tappable link that takes you directly to the vehicle's profile page.
  • Smarter trip wizard flow - if you haven't added a vehicle yet, Step 1 of the trip planner now shows a clear prompt with a direct link to add one, rather than an empty dropdown.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where a system notice displayed as a modal could fill the entire screen on mobile with no visible way to dismiss it. All notice types now behave correctly across screen sizes, and every notice always has at least one exit path.

v1.2.2 App update improvements

Improvements

  • The app now detects new versions more reliably in the background. The update prompt now shows a clearer "Update available - tap to refresh" message.

v1.2.1 Avatar display fix

Fixes

  • Fixed profile avatars not displaying after the server upgrade in v1.2.0.

v1.2.0 Backend server improvements and platform stability

Improvements

  • Backend server improvements and platform stability. Future updates should not impact users.

v1.0.0 First public release

Plan smarter

  • Optimised fuel stop planning - FuelOracle plans your fills globally across the whole route, buying less at expensive stops when a cheaper one is reachable ahead. Even on remote outback legs hundreds of kilometres apart.
  • Multi-stop Australian road trips - add as many waypoints as you need. FuelOracle builds a complete fuel plan for the whole journey, not just the next stop.
  • Live fuel prices across Australia - real-time pricing from every state and territory. See what you'll actually pay and how much you're saving compared to topping up at every stop.
  • Remote route support - planning the Gunbarrel Highway or the Gibb River Road? FuelOracle extends its lookahead on sparse routes so you're never caught out between stations.
  • Wind-adjusted fuel planning - FuelOracle accounts for headwinds and tailwinds along your route. On exposed outback highways like the Barkly and the Nullarbor, prevailing winds can add 10 to 15% to fuel consumption. Enable wind adjustment in trip settings and the planner factors it in at plan generation time.
  • River crossing flood warnings - planning a Kakadu trip or crossing the Gibb River Road? FuelOracle checks forecast river discharge at key crossings and flags elevated or dangerous conditions before you depart. Warnings appear on your trip plan and as markers on the route map. Covers the Stuart Highway, Arnhem Highway, Barkly Highway, Gibb River Road, Savannah Way, and Channel Country corridors.

Built for caravanners and 4WDers

  • Towing and solo modes - set separate fuel economy for towing and solo driving. Mark waypoints where you'll drop the van and FuelOracle switches economy automatically.
  • Jerry can planning - configure your cans and FuelOracle factors them into range calculations. Choose when to draw from them - only when necessary, always, or as a reserve.
  • Ferry crossings - Spirit of Tasmania, the Kimberley barges, island crossings. FuelOracle detects ferry legs automatically and plans fuel correctly either side. Your tank stays full on the boat.
  • Wind gust warnings - strong crosswind gusts are flagged directly on your fuel stop cards when towing. Amber for caution, red for dangerous conditions -so you know before you hit an exposed stretch of highway.

Your vehicle, your data

  • Vehicle profiles - search from a library of Australian 4WDs, utes, and SUVs with pre-filled tank size and economy. Customise for lift kits, bigger tanks, and modified economy.
  • Real-world economy tracking - log your actual fills as you drive. FuelOracle tracks what your vehicle really uses, solo and towing, and shows how that compares to other drivers.

Trip management

  • Share and sync trips - share a trip link with anyone. Invite fellow travellers to sync the live plan to their own account.
  • Import from WikiCamps, GPX and CSV - already have your route planned? Import waypoints directly and let FuelOracle build the fuel plan around your itinerary.
  • Export and offline access - export your trip as a PDF or GPX file. The app works offline once loaded.

The basics done right

  • Dark mode, passkeys, and offline PWA - dark mode for night driving. Sign in with Face ID or Touch ID, no password required. Install as an app on your phone or tablet.
  • Webhook notifications - connect FuelOracle to Discord or any webhook-compatible service. Get alerts when a trip is planned, prices go stale, or your departure is coming up.
